The launcher
The launcher talks to other systems only to do what you use it for. Your settings, favorites and play times stay on your PC.
- Updates, game files and mods come from GitHub: the launcher's own releases, Ruffle Together, the Flash game catalog and our mods-info files. GitHub sees your IP address, as any download does.
- The game list reads which games are ready from this website (games.json).
- Rooms. To list open rooms, host or join one, the launcher connects to our central server. It sends the game, the room's name, the player name you chose and, while you play, the game's own messages. The server needs your IP address to connect players; it keeps rooms only while they are open and writes no addresses to its logs in full.
- "How did it run?" reports are sent only when you answer the question. A report holds your answer, your note if you wrote one, the game, its version, how long you played, and your PC's Windows version, graphics card, processor and memory. It is shown on the game's page without any name. A random id made by the launcher lets us keep one report per PC, game and version; we store it only as a hash. Your IP address is used for a limit of 20 reports an hour, stored only as a hash that changes every hour, and deleted after that hour.
- Discord. If the Discord app is open on your PC, the launcher tells it which game you are playing, so it can show on your profile. That stays between the launcher and Discord on your PC; Discord's own settings decide who sees it.
- Your game folders. To install a PC mod, the launcher reads where Steam, Epic and Windows say your games are. That stays on your PC.
This website
- Browsing needs no account and uses no analytics or advertising. Your theme, language and view choices are kept in your own browser.
- Requesting a game or sending a mod asks you to sign in with Discord. We keep your Discord id, display name and picture, and what you sent us. We ask Discord only for your basic profile and whether you are in our server.
- Developers sign in with GitHub, which gives us only your public profile: id, username, name and picture. We keep what you write in your application and your messages with the team.
- Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days. When someone applies, writes to us or adds a mod, our team's Discord channel gets a short note saying who did what, never what they wrote.
Services we use
These handle the requests above, under their own privacy policies:
- Cloudflare: hosts this website, its database and the reports service.
- GitHub: hosts the launcher, the mods, the game catalog and mods-info, and the developer sign-in.
- Discord: the sign-in for requests, our server and your profile's game status.
Having it removed
Ask us on Discord or through the report page to see or delete what we keep about you: your account here, what you sent, or a report from your PC. We answer every request.
